The Governors Island Art Fair is at its 7th edition. At just a 8 minutes hop by ferry from Manhattan you can find a collection of impressive works of art presented in full rooms or even full floors of the houses that ones housed military personal.
What impresses the most is the remarkable curating of the fair that somehow was able to put together very interesting works of art, from plain to intriguing to shocking but all worth to be seen and appreciated.
I found the show way, way better that any recent Biennial at the Whitney and maybe because the entire event is organized by 4Heads, an organization by artists for artists.
The views to downtown Manhattan from the promenade or the Parade Grounds are fantastic and in themselves are worth trip to the island.
