When advertising beats reality

Stratton Mountain, VT – morning

Stratton Mountain has a huge advertising in New York with billboards on trains and subways, in spite of its not so close proximity. So the disappointment was even larger when we got there on a gorgeous morning and 3 out of the 4 lifts going from the middle to the top of the mountains were closed because of high wind. The resort was packed like I never have seen before on Saturday, the most crowded day of the entire Presidents Day week. Seeing that things got out of control one line that was close to one hour, they decided to open up the gondola and run it in spite of stronger winds in the afternoon. But the lines were still there in spite of the strong blizzard that started to dump snow on the mountain and packed the roads in ice and snow.
