A not so alive LA downtown

Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, CA

After so many buildings he raised I got used with Frank Gehry’s architecture in the US or abroad but still I wanted to come and see the magnificent Disney Concert Hall in LA. The building is impressive but is located right in front of a terrible open parking lot, like it would have been thrown in the outskirts of a deserted town. However in spite of its glamour what it misses is the life around it. With this building or without it, the LA downtown is dead, in spite of huge efforts of luxury apartment developments and being promoted like the new alive thing in the city. The concert hall is right near the Opera house, the music center and the theaters all across the tall city hall building, surrounded by beautiful parks with active, in spite of the drought, fountains lit by night. And all these buildings are in the shadow of the “water power” building, the umbilicus that made LA what is today.
But if you want to sit down or grab a coffee, good luck! Everything is closed.
